Die Award Season ist in vollem Gange und nun wurden auch die Nominierungen für die GLAAD Media Awards bekanntgegeben. Diese werden bereits zum 28. Mal verliehen und neben großen Stars wie Lady Gaga, Elton John, Frank Ocean und Sia sind auf dieser Liste auch Promis und Programme zu finden, die in Deutschland weniger bekannt sind.
„Seit fast 30 Jahren setzen die GLAAD Media Awards den Maßstab dafür, wie LGBTQ-Leute in den Medien dargestellt werden. Die diesjährigen Kandidaten haben Vorstellungen und Storylines geschaffen, die Missverständnisse anfechten und dabei helfen, das Verständnis, die Akzeptanz und die Gleichberechtigung von LGBTQ-Menschen auf der ganzen Welt zu verbreiten“, erklärte GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in einem Statement.
Wie bereits im Jahr zuvor wird es zwei Veranstaltungen geben, bei denen die GLAAD Media Awards verliehen werden. Am 1. April ist das erste Event in Los Angeles, einen Monat später werden am 6. Mai in New York die restlichen Preise verliehen.
